If I were an inventor I would invent a way to use teleportation (a way to simply travel from point A to point B without having to walk or drive or use any conventional means of transportation). How this would be achieved I have no idea of though. There are a lot of theories of how to accomplish this task, but nothing is certain and no one really have the means to do this. Teleportation would have a lot of uses, maybe being used for quickly transporting people to different places, completely eliminating the usage of oil in the process.
